Apprentices are fully integrated into all aspects of Relative Theatrics’s day-to-day operations and will gain experience in the following disciplines: Acting, Directing, Technical Production & Design (scenic, props, lighting, costumes, sound, projections), Production Management, Literary Management & Dramaturgy, Marketing & Outreach, Social Justice Engagement, Administration (theatre management, box office, fundraising), etc.
Program Description
Relative Theatrics, a non-profit theatre company in Laramie, Wyoming, is accepting Apprentice applications for the 2021/22 season. Relative Theatrics’s mission is to present thought provoking theatre that examines the joining qualities of the human race. Taking artistic risk, we provide a community gathering place where thoughts can be exchanged about society, culture, and the power of creativity. We seek passionate and motivated recent theatre graduates and young theatre artists interested in practical training in all areas of operations at Relative Theatrics. The purpose of the apprenticeship program is to bridge the gap between academic theatre and the professional world by providing additional hands-on training and experience to individuals with career ambitions in the theatre industry. Apprentices will participate in all aspects of theatre production and administration, becoming fully involved members of the Relative Theatrics community of artists, technicians and professionals. Apprentices will have the opportunity to act in our productions, design select technical production elements, assistant-direct, assistant-stage manage, build scenery, props and costumes, research and deliver dramaturgical talks, assist with marketing and public relations, take part in new play readings, help staff special events, and more.
Apprenticeship Opportunities
The program is designed to be immersive and provide a broad range of hands-on experience in all aspects of Relative Theatrics operations, such as: Casting, Acting, Directing, Technical Production & Design (scenic build, props, lighting, costumes, sound, projections), Literary Management/ Dramaturgy, Marketing & Outreach, Administration (theatre management, box office, fundraising), Production Management, etc. Apprentices will also be offered complimentary tickets to all Relative Theatrics productions.
Qualifications
Apprentices will be vested with significant responsibilities and therefore candidates should be passionate about the theatre, self-motivated, dedicated, and able to achieve goals within tight time deadlines. It is important to be flexible and personable, and to have the ability to work effectively with many different personalities within a fast-paced environment.
Availability
Apprenticeship contracts are a commitment of 10 months, from August through May. Relative Theatrics allows apprentices to have an outside part-time job and works to accommodate each individual’s schedule. As such, hours will vary and will include some combination of daytimes, evenings and weekends. Relative Theatrics does not guarantee a job offer at the conclusion of the Apprenticeship.
Stipend/Housing
Apprentices at Relative Theatrics receive a stipend of $250 per month. Although it is our goal in the future, we currently do not offer housing at this time to our apprentices.
